I’m Planning My Character

Ola! (Again)

Gosh, I’ve never typed directly to you so much in one week! Usually my blogs are very indirect and quite passive.

Anywho, I’m here because I’d like to share with you, my glee in being sat here planning and sculpting the characters for my novel. MY novel; MY characters. I’m so excited that I can literally sculpt and mould them exactly how I want them. Create lives, personalities and histories for them, give them dreams and give them a future. I feel amazing; I love it.

At present, I’m working on the girl who will be a main character of the story.  I’ve got a choice of two names for her and am more swaying towards one of them, but can’t quite let go of the other. I think my final decision will be based on whether she’s English or American, because this, too, I am in two minds about.

I really like her, she’s a fun person to invent and give life to and I can’t wait to see what she looks like on paper.

I didn’t think the process would be complete without drawing her, so, with my non-artistic capabilities, I scribbled her down onto a bit of lined paper and, I must say, she looks pretty darn good. I do have this polished image of her in my head, though, and I can’t help but wish it was possible to print-screen the images imprinted only in the mind. It would make recalling her every time I write about her a lot easier.

Anyway, I’m off to continue pumping life into her, I’ll keep you posted!
